[AquaticLife] I really messed up this time!
Well, a tank that is only a little uneven, maybe a 1/4″ or 1/2″ out of perfect vertical… I don’t think that small amount will cause any major stress problems but it would be aesthetically awkward looking, especially if you can see the top water line or if the tank and stand are leaning away from a wall where the base of the stand is 2″ away from the wall and the top of the tank is 2.5″ away. When the difference starts to get 3″ or 4″ away from the wall, then it becomes more than just an aesthetic issue. Even a 1/8″ unevenness at the base could create a 2″ difference in the top depending on how tall the stand/tank is. The taller the tank/stand, the more potential for problems as it becomes top heavy… like in my previous boat analogy… sitting in a canoe and paddling around.. no problem… stand up in that same canoe and the chance of tipping over becomes far more likely.
