[AquaticLife] Goldfish Question
Thanks for your thoughtful reply, Lenny. So what I think I am getting from this is “we don’t really know, but possibly”? You mentioned that you thought she was jittery. My fish isn’t jittery. I think someone else had recently written about some goldfish who were, but it is understandable that we get one another confused from time to time. So far this fish has not shown any signs of stress. I think I have seen her go over to hang out near the filter on 3 different occasions since I have had her and so did a PWC on those occasions. Those were the only occasions I noticed signs in the fish that worried me. She is a beautiful specimen with a long flowing tale fin who swims gracefully around and seems to love to show off to the people and cats when we give her attention.
The 55 gallon I have is the same length as a 75 gallon, not quite as wide (I believe it is 48 inches). I would love to give her a 125 gallon, but just can’t. I am planning to get a Rena XP 3 for her new tank as soon as our LFS gets them back in stock. They ran out the day I went to get them because they had a great sale on them. They agreed to give me the sale price when they get them back in since I asked for them while they were on sale.
If anyone does find out more about how fast goldfish typically grow, I would be interested in learning more. I also wondered whether females grow as large as males? Please don’t tell me they grow larger! LOL!
