[AquaticLife] Driftwood Cleaning & Curing…. Now, why didn’t I think of this???
Dishwashers are different, depending on the brand and the age. Some have simple plastic hang-on things in them that you can put a slowly dissolving tab in them. Other’s have systems built into the doors where you refill them with either liquid spot remover or a tablet and it dispenses it with each cycle. How do you fill your spot remover system? That would give me more info to answer how to empty it. I don’t use that stuff… I just buy spotted dishes to begin with so the water spots don’t show up… ahhh.. the life of a bachelor! ![]()
Yes, electric dishwasher and washing machine detergents have non-sudsing chemicals added to them. Using anything else like a normal hand dishwashing liquid in either your electric dishwasher or washing machine will result in a room full of bubbles… messy for you but fun for the kids though! Use a little laundry detergent next time you run out of electric dishwashing detergent…. then your dishes will smell Mountain Breeze Fresh (or whatever flavor laundry detergent you have) afterwards. LOL Not really, the rinse cycle rinses away any scents added by the detergent companies anyhow… but DO NOT use detergents when cleaning aquarium stuff. You could add a few ounces of bleach or even a few ounces of salt at the beginning if you like.. as soon as the dishwasher starts the filling and/or cleaning cycle. The bleach would not have time to soak into the wood and would be rinsed and/or evaporated away during the HOT rinse and drying cycles. It’s probably not necessary for either of them.
