Guppies can be kept at room temp without a problem as long as the room temp isn’t too cold. If you go with guppies, just get males so you don’t have a problem with being overloaded by the females popping out tons of babies which will then have you right back in the same boat with water quality and overstocking issues. Besides, the males are prettier anyhow.
