[AquaticLife] An experiment has started…
Major disappointment! No change at all to my tank water. 4 ppm ammonia and 0 ppm nitrates!
Well, my test may indeed have been flawed. Adding fish would not have shot the ammonia up to 4ppm and that might have had an adverse effect on the bacteria. I might have gotten a bad bottle of the stuff, but then anyone could if that is the case and they would then need to do a cycle with fish, and a full bio load at that.
Based on my little experiment I do not think I could recommend the stuff. If any of you out there do buy it and get a chance to experiment with it I would love to see what would happen if one only added ammonia up to say 1 or 2 ppm. If that also fails, well the new stuff would have to be added to all the others… does not work. I would like to know, but not bad enough to drain the tank and try again. I would if I was at my home and not here at work, the water source is not real close, and co-workers already think I am nuts…
On the bright side, I did not add and kill fish! I am also set up and have started the fishless cycle of the tank.
