Alternative to API test tubes?
I agree with Lenny about replacing your test fluids every year. However, be careful where you get them! Last year I purchased an API kit on sale and it was already too old. How do I know? It was not accurate. I knew what the results should be (I knew I should be experiencing ammonia in one of my tanks and the others were long since cycled it showed no ammonia or nitrites in any tanks) I tried the test against the kit I was replacing and then against another one once I figured out it was not accurate. I was NOT happy with the LPS that sold it to me. They tried to sell me something else out of date not long after that. I no longer purchase chemicals from that LPS.
